Legion Hall July 1937 The American Legion was organized in 1920. The Post was named after Leo Hill, the first Steamboat Springs soldier killed in WWI. The Post's popular dances led to the remodel of this building at 3rd and Lincoln in 1932, previously called the Chieftian, it was renamed the Legionnaire, but everyone referred to the building as the Legion Hut. The Post sold the building in 1954 to purchase another and this building was relocated. Source Jim Stanko.
