Aspen tree art, Ellis Trail Trees on Ellis trail, the tree art is thought to be as old as 1895, when the trail was built. The trail is located near Elk River Road and ends near Emcampment River.Trail was named after John Ellis, Elk River cattleman, freight trail builder and "first forest guard" of Routt National Forest in 1906.
