Frazier Family Arriving in Steamboat Springs
1909-1918
Black and white photo of a family in a wagon drawn by four horses. Photo from album belonging to Harris Frazier, son of Floyd Frazier. Page in album has typed description which says "Here we are arriving in Steamboat Springs the first time. Dad and Uncle Nort had made a trip out there the previous year. The railroad ran then to McCoy's siding. Dad had arranged for Dwight Etzler -- a local livery man -- to meet us with this spring wagon and the four horse hitch. The first night we stopped at Toponas -- simply a rancher who was making a little money temporarily lodging a few travelers. The second night we stayed at Yampa, about thirty miles from Steamboat. In all we drove 75 miles to get there from the end of the railroad." Floyd Frazier was the Secretary Treasurer of the Steamboat Springs Town and Quarry Company in 1909, owned a large ranch in Pleasant Valley, and helped build the bath house, the Frazier Building, and the Cabin Hotel.
