Yampa River 1909-1918 Black and white photo of the Sheridan Hotel. Photo from album belonging to Harris Frazier, son of Floyd Frazier. Photo in album is labeled "Soda Creek and Bear River" and has typed description which says "The big idea behind dad's venture in Steamboat was to develop the place as a resort, with its beautiful scenery, mineral springs, etc. But there were only two inadequate hotels -- the Onyx and the Sheridan. So the Steamboat Springs Town & Quarry Co. undertook the building of a new hotel -- The Cabin. The site was well chosen -- just across the river from the railroad depot. It was really a very nice hotel for those times and that town. It had central heating and bathrooms which were indeed an innovation then. The upper righthand picture [this one] was taken in back of and looking toward the hotel which is hidden by the trees."
Floyd Frazier was the Secretary Treasurer of the Steamboat Springs Town and Quarry Company in 1909, owned a large ranch in Pleasant Valley, and helped build the bath house, the Frazier Building, and the Cabin Hotel.
