Birkett and Shibata circa 1943 Local World War II servicemen and friend stand in their Navy and Army uniforms. Birkett (left) returned home following the war, Kenneth Shibata of Oak Creek, was killed in action on July 16, 1944 in Italy. Shibata was awarded a Brown Star.
