Tugboat river race Circa 1975 The Tugboat River Race started in 1975 with about 300 entries, it grew to 5,000 in the river and thousands watching. Tugboat Saloon (Larry Lamb) sponsered the event. After a decade, concerns about safety and the river ecosystem caused organziers to end the races in 1983.
